Integration with Slate can be achieved by utilizing the Encoura Standard Import and Encoura Standard Export layouts for Encoura in combination with the appropriate transport method. Because each instance of Slate is customizable by each institution, there isn't a 'plug and play' integration, but we can offer guidance in setting up your integration. 

Encoura to Slate Transport Methods

Encoura provides two ways to automate the export of data to Slate:

• Data Center File Transfer - With this option, any files posted to Data Center will automatically be transferred to the SFTP location of your choice. Details are available in Help Center. This will be your best option for integrating with Slate.
• Encoura API - This allows programmers to write scripts that talk directly to Encoura and request the latest files on any schedule that you set. While powerful, this requires a programmer that work with our sample scripts and documentation to customize the process for your institution. Details are available in Help Center. 

Processing Encoura Files

With either Transport Method above, data available using this process includes ACT^® Score Reports and data delivered for Encoura Prospect, AOS, Declared Student Connection™, Affinity Connection™, and eMatch^® programs. Either Transport Method will result in a file being downloaded in either the ACT College Score Report Layout (for ACT Scores) or the Encoura Standard Export Layout (for all others), which can then be imported into Slate.

For Encoura data that includes Parent/Guardian Email content, there are two options for importing this information into Slate. See the document at the bottom of this article for details.

NOTE: Avoid saving a CSV with Microsoft Excel before transferring to Slate. Excel removes leading zeros (eg in dates: 032024 becomes 32024, for example).

Reconfiguring the Encoura Source Format

Slate includes a source format for importing Encoura student data files.  The Encoura Source Format primarily imports student demographic data. However, it can be reconfigured to import any data field included in the Encoura Standard Export Layout, such as the Encoura Student Mindsets™. The Encoura Source Format can also be reconfigured to map person status values (prospect or inquiry) based on the data source value included in the Encoura data file.
